The sixth painting in the 7 series. Ins(eye)ght was Inspired by the ancient Chinese painting technique, Gongbi. This brushwork style consists of thin layers of watercolor applied overtime to create depth and tone in a painting. Implementing this technique with acrylic paint, the effect is a tapestry finish to this fabric canvas. Over 20 layers of purple were applied to create the magenta pigment. Swirling in shapes reminiscent of moons and smiles, these movements within the eye signify intuition, flow of energy. Deep layering hints at the act of seeing beyond “what is seen.”
